Mountain lots and lower-city lots are different builds

On the Mountain, the rear yard is usually generous and level, which keeps excavation itself straightforward. The constraint is getting machinery from the street to the back. Many of these homes have attached garages and narrow side yards, so access is planned with compact equipment or a crane pick over the house.

Below the escarpment the picture reverses. Lots in Westdale, Durand, Kirkendall and the north end tend to be deep and narrow, with mature trees, older garages and shared driveways. Excavation there is a logistics problem as much as a construction one: protecting root zones, staging spoil and materials, and keeping the street clear. It is solvable, but it needs to be planned before a contract is signed rather than improvised in week one.
